MediLodge of Taylor believes that part of being healthy is being involved. For nearly 40 years, our facility and residents have been active participants in the Taylor community. Here’s a sampling of some of our favorites:

The residents of MediLodge of Taylor have joined a
baseball team. Our team consists of 7 residents from
MediLodge of Taylor and we play other MediLodge teams.
The games are held at the Miracle Field in
Southfield. We invite family and friends to come out
and join us for a day of competition, skill, and a
whole lot of FUN!

Every year, the MediLodge Group, Inc. sponsors the Alzheimer’s Walk at the Detroit Zoo. All 18 MediLodge facilities participate, including MediLodge of Taylor, where staff, residents’ families, and children walk to raise money for this important cause. |

Every quarter, MediLodge of Taylor, hosts bingo at the Taylor Senior Center. All seniors from the Taylor community are invited, and it’s become quite a popular ritual. Refreshments and prizes are provided, which might have something to do with the big crowds that gather there! |

Scary? Pretty? Funny? What’s your favorite Halloween “look?” We see it all here in our annual Halloween Costume Competition. Each year, our staff and residents dress up for Halloween, setting new standards in creativity and silliness. To continue the tradition of passing out candy, our residents give treats to over 150 1st and 2nd graders that stop in each year. |

Each year, MediLodge of Taylor donates two baskets with all the ‘fixins for Thanksgiving Dinner to two needy families. Residents and their families enjoy a fabulous Thanksgiving feast in our “dressed up” dining room. The homemade menu offers an array of traditional, family favorites including roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. Our staff makes sure that everyone has plenty to eat—and the best part about it—no dishes to wash! Well, not residents anyway. |

All year long, craft-loving residents and their families prepare for our annual craft bazaar. Families and friends flock to the event to check out the handiwork and complete their Christmas shopping. In addition, the center adopts a needy family from the community and provides them with a very Merry Christmas. Our residents enjoy knowing that events like the bazaar help others less fortunate. |

Mothers Day is the one day a year that we honor our mothers—usually treating them to a brunch, breakfast in bed, or other pampering. And when your mother is staying with us, we want to make sure her day is special, too. Each year, we host an elegant luncheon, complete with fine linens, lovely flowers, and delicious cuisine. Families can join their loved ones for this special event that honors our mothers for all of the loving hard work that it requires to raise a family. You’ll want to make sure to reserve your place so you don’t miss it. |

Valentine’s Day is special at MediLodge of Taylor. Residents celebrate by sending secret valentines to each other, staff and family. The dining room is a sea of festive red—the color to wear for the day—and each resident feels special with a flower. “The Country Jays” provide live musical entertainment, and dancing goes on and on! Family members are also invited. |

Our Father’s Day starts out with a morning of packing up the fishing gear. We fish for hours in our own stocked pool on the patio, and later our resident chef cleans and cooks the catch, and serves them up with beer and other refreshments. It’s a terrific way for our men to enjoy themselves on a day that’s devoted to making dads feel special. |

Each year on Veteran’s Day, we celebrate the “Heroes” and “Heroines” that live within our center. The Honor Guard comes to pin a flag on each resident, and offer words of enrichment and prayer. Each resident also receives a certificate. Stories of their service days are shared with family members and friends, and refreshments are served. |

Each year the residents pack Easter eggs full of candy
and prizes in preparation for the Annual Easter Egg
Hunt held on the front lawn of MediLodge of Taylor.
All the neighborhood children, grandchildren of our
residents and staff come to hunt for Easter eggs. We
even have a visit from the Easter Bunny! |
